In 2024 hundreds of horticultural growers participated in the QFVG-delivered Geared Up Growers Negotiation Tactics Masterclasses. Feedback from these sessions was excellent; and we watched on as growers built their knowledge, skills, and confidence in negotiation.
Whilst on the road with Geared Up Growers we heard loud and clear that more of this style of training was needed. Growers requested QFVG and your regional grower groups be the bridge to access it. The timing is right with training subsidies now available through programs such as the Queensland Farmers’ Federation (QFF) SmartAg Queensland.
The training priorities identified included:
Practical training to meet compliance obligation such as forklift, first aid, chemcert, HACCSP.
Business support across areas such as workplace health and safety, sustainability, mental health, Hort & Grocery Code, management & supervisor training.
Regional Grower Groups, supported by QFVG, will deliver the practical on-farm training while QFVG will take the lead on state-wide training under our new training arm - Geared Up Horticulture.
Growers can now submit requests for training via the online EOI form here.
