Thankful for all that you grow

This week we sat down to our Christmas feasts featuring (hopefully) an abundance of fresh fruits, vegetables, and nuts alongside that seafood platter and beautiful roast meats.

Growing one fifth of the nation’s vegetables and one third of the nation’s fruit – Queensland growers are an integral part of the everyday lives of many Australians. From Mareeba to Stanthorpe and everywhere in between, growers and workers, make sure we have fabulous produce to fill our plates and fuel our bodies.

It is also not lost on us that for many growers this time of year offers no letup of work; and many will work harder now than at any other time of year. If this applies to you – we thank you!

Farmers around the country play a crucial role in almost every aspect of our lives from our healthy fruit smoothie, Sunday morning bacon and eggs, that beautiful fresh seafood or the cotton shirts on our backs – there is very little a farmer has not touched.

So, this Christmas we are saying a massive ‘thank you’ to the men and women of horticulture who, through dodging weather events and all the ups and downs of farming, continue to put healthy fruits, vegetables, and nuts on our plates. We, simply put, cannot live without you!

The people of Australia are also thankful. Throughout 2024 we’ve been collecting messages of support for our growers.

With many in our industry feeling the weight of the world on their shoulders at the moment we hope these simple messages of thanks can bring a little Christmas cheer:

  • Your work doesn't go unseen; we see you.

  • We love what you do for us each and every day supplying the very best food, fibre and foliage.

  • You are very important to all Australians, thank you for the work you do.

  • Australian fresh produce is the best.

  • Keep up the great work feeding our communities - we support you!

  • You rock! Thanks for your hard work and commitment.

  • Our growers are our lifeblood – thank you for all you do to grow the best produce in the world.

Australia is thankful for all you are, and all that you grow.
